When a Catholic passes from this life to the next, we may read about how they gave to many worthy causes during their lifetime and in death. But too often, Catholic parishes are not listed among their beneficiaries.
Now there is a way for such a legacy of faith to help future generations of Divine Grace parishioners.
The Catholic Foundation for Greater Pittsburgh has been established to support local Catholic causes and especially parishes. Divine Grace Parish is one of the first in the diocese to benefit.
In creating The Fund for Divine Grace Parish, a permanent source of support will grow, produce annual distributions as needed, and allow us to look to the future and plan strategically for expected needs and those that cannot be anticipated.
It will create greater impact through long-term and short-term investments that will be managed with Catholic values in mind. Common legacy gifts include estate commitments such as bequests and retirement plans, designations of life insurance policies, matching gifts, and trusts and annuities.
Because they are typically funded through assets instead of income, legacy gifts usually cost donors nothing during their lifetimes. The principal is invested through the foundation and grows over time. Twice a year, the parish can take small distributions if needed, but the principal remains untouched.
Parishioners have begun to make legacy gifts to the Fund, appreciating the opportunity to ensure that the next generation will benefit from a vibrant, growing Divine Grace Parish. An endowment doesn’t replace the weekly offertory or the Annual Parish Appeal for diocesan-wide needs—it creates stability and growth to support our mission and ministries.
Simply put, the Fund is a new way to sustain our parish, advance our faith, and endow our future.
